Haryana PCS
The State of Haryana came into existence under the provisions of Punjab Reorganization Act, 1966 (No. 31 of 1966), with effect from 1st November, 1966, when the Haryana Public Service Commission also came into existence. HPSC HCS exam is the most important and the prestigious exam of Haryana. Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) conducts the Haryana Civil Services (HCS) exam every year to recruit the candidates for the HCS.
HPSC HCS Exam Pattern – Prelims Exam(100 Marks)
The HPSC HCS exam is a three-stage exam and the exam pattern for each stage is different. The HCS prelims exam is the first stage of the HCS exam. The HCS Prelims exam serves as the screening exam only and the marks secured in the HCS prelims exam are not considered in the final merit. As per the new rules, the HCS Prelims result will be based on the marks secured in General Studies Paper only and the CSAT paper will be of qualifying in nature. The candidates need to score 33% marks in the CSAT paper.
There is a provision of negative marking in the HCS prelims exam. For each wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted from the candidate’s marks. We can say that the four wrong answers will neutralise one right answer.

HPSC HCS Exam Pattern – Main Exam (600 Marks)
HCS main exam is the crucial stage of the whole exam process. The marks secured in the HCS main exam are taken into account for the HCS result. The total number of candidates admitted in the HCS main exam will be 12 times the number of vacancies to be filled. Each paper will be of three hours duration. The candidates need to opt for two optional subjects from a list of 23 optional subjects. The HPSC main exam is a descriptive type exam comprising five conventional essay type question papers.

HPSC HCS Exam Pattern – Personality Test (75 Marks)
The candidates who score marks equal to or greater than the HCS cut off marks will be called for the personality test at the HPSC office premises. No candidate will be called for the HCS interview unless the candidate attains 45% marks in the aggregate of all the main written question papers and 33% marks in the Hindi and English question papers. The number of candidates called for the HCS personality test will be three times the number of vacancies advertised

MADHYA PRADESH PCS
It is conducted every year by MPSC to recruit officers into the different wings of the state administration departments under the Maharashtra State Government. The exams are conducted and overseen by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC).
EXAM PATTERN
Like the UPSC, the MPSC state services exam is also conducted in three stages:
- Prelims
- Mains
- Interview
A candidate has to clear one stage in orde0r to be eligible for the subsequent stage, i.e, if he/she clears the prelims, he/she moves onto the mains, clearing which he/she would be summoned for the final stage (interview) of the MPSC exam.

After qualifying the MPSC Prelims candidates have to appear for the MPSC Mains exam
MPSC Mains Exam Pattern: In MPSC Mains there are six compulsory papers. Paper I and Paper II are language papers while Papers III, IV, V and VI are general studies papers. Important Points:
- There is negative marking in the objective question papers.
- Candidates need to attempt all the papers to qualify for the Interview round.
- This round is both scoring and qualifying in nature.
Stage 3: Interview
Candidates who clear the mains exam are summoned for the MPSC interview. In this round, a panel of the MPSC board assesses the candidate for his/her suitability for the administrative career through a personal discussion. This is more like a personality test where apart from knowledge, the candidate’s attributes such as aptitude, presence of mind, communication skills, etc. are evaluated.
